Utah State Firemen’s Auxiliary By-Laws

The organization shall be known as the Utah State Firemen’s Auxiliary, with the object, business, purpose, pursuit and pleasure of associating qualified members together, and as supplementing, working with, assisting and advancing the purposes and plans set forth in the Constitution of the Utah Sate Firemen’s Association.







Article I



The place of business and the limitations of the activities shall be of the State of Utah. Officers shall be designated, if necessary, at the discretion of the Board of Directors. It is proposed that the office of the organization shall be subject to change dependent upon the residents of the secretary of this organization.



Article II



The officers of this association shall consist of a Board of Directors, including President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, Chaplain, Parliamentarian, three Trustees (a One-Year Trustee, Two-Year Trustee, and Hold-Over Trustee) and Convention Chairman. A majority of the Board shall constitute a quorum and shall be authorized to transact the business of the auxiliary and to exercise incident powers thereto. The office of Parliamentarian will be appointed by the President. The Convention Chairman will be the current Past President.



Article III



To be eligible as members in this association, the following requirements are imposed: wife/husband of a duly accredited member of the Utah State Firemen’s Association or any widow/widower of any deceased fireman in good standing in the Utah State Firemen’s Association at the time of his/her death.

All persons having paid dues and been accepted by the organization to date, shall be considered as members.






Article IV



No delegate to the annual State Auxiliary Convention shall be eligible to any office who has not been a member in good standing and having dues paid for at least the past two years.

The following officers will be elected each year: Second Vice President, Chaplain, Two-Year Trustee, and One-Year Trustee. The offices of Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian will be elected to serve a two year term. The current First Vice President will move to the office of President; the office of Second Vice President will move to the office of First Vice President.

In the absence of the President, the First Vice President will serve in her/his place. When a Vice President is presiding in the absence of the President, she/he is addressed as President. Any vacancy caused by resignation, death, ineligibility, of either or any of the said officers may be filled by the Board of Directors.



Article V



The term of office for President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Chaplain, Parliamentarian, One-Year Trustee, and Convention Chairman shall be one year. The Term of office for Secretary, Treasurer, and Two-Year Trustee will be two years (with the second year as Hold-Over Trustee).



Article VI



The financial year shall be from the Utah State Firemen’s Convention date to the following Convention date. The fee shall be seven dollars per member per year. All State Officer dues are to be paid at Pre-Convention meeting. All member dues are to be paid by the Completion of the Auxiliary Luncheon held on Friday at state Convention. All members are eligible to vote when dues are paid to date.

Members may purchase a lifetime membership for the annual due rate times 10 when their spouse has (30) years of service in the Utah State Firemen's Association. If service is not yet at the thirty year requirement, a cost of the annual fee for each year up to the thirty years may be purchsed. Example: If the spouse has 25 years of service, it would cost $35 (at the current rate of $7 per year) to reach the 30 year requirement. Then they could purchase their lifetime membership for 10 times the due rate ($70, 10 x $7.00)



Article VII



The annual meeting of the Association shall be held at the time and place designated, year by year, as the convention community for the Utah State Firemen’s Association, and at such time and place the election of officers and the transaction of such other business as shall lawfully and properly come before the organization will be consummated. Notice of the annual meeting, shall be sent to the secretary of each Auxiliary by the Secretary of the State Auxiliary thirty days prior to the annual convention of the Utah State Firemen’s Convention.



Article VIII



Any director or officer of this Auxiliary may be removed at a meeting, general or special, by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members of this organization. Any officer or director of this organization may resign by filing a written resignation with the secretary prior to Pre-Convention meeting and relinquish all materials belonging to this organization.



Article IX



These By-Laws may be amended in any respect conformable to the laws of the State of Utah and to the Constitution and By-Laws of the Utah State Firemen’s Association by a vote representing a majority present at the annual meeting.



Article X



The Board of Directors of this organization may from time to time enact such By-Laws as are not inconsistent with the foregoing or contrary to the laws of the State of Utah or the Constitution and By-Laws of the Utah State Firemen’s Association.



Article XI



“ROBERTS RULES OF ORDER REVISED” shall be designated as the procedure controlling in the meetings of this organization, directors, annual, and special.
